Sleeper cell

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A sleeper cell is a group of people ( cells ) commissioned by terrorist networks who are in certain areas of the state or in companies. There she behaves inconspicuously (she “sleeps”) and scouts out her surroundings. At the command of the network, the sleeper cell is "woken up" by sabotaging or helping to carry out terrorist attacks. It is advantageous for the network to have a sleeper cell on site long before a planned attack. The people do not have to be smuggled in when an alarm condition already exists and can pass on important information. The constant readiness enables short-term activation to carry out an attack. The term is used in connection with both espionage and terrorism.
