Weizern Castle

Weizern Castle , also known as Schlössle , is a listed former castle in Weizern in the municipality of Eisenberg (Allgäu) in the Swabian district of Ostallgäu .

history

The Eisenberg estate was originally owned by the von Hohenegg family . In the 15th century, two independent property complexes split off: Around 1420 the Freyberg-Eisenberg-Hohenfreyberg rule with the bailiff's seat in Zell and in 1467 the Freyberg-Eisenberg-Hopferau bailiff's seat in Hopferau . The Eisenberg bailiff lived in the small castle in Weizern, which was built in 1711 . There the Barons of Freyberg-Eisenberg zu Eisenberg had set up a lower court for their domain.

Building description

The castle has a steep gable roof. The portal with skylight is marked with 1711.
