history
The place name Schneidlingen probably originated around or shortly after 600. Schneidlingen's first mention dates from the 12th century. However, this does not refer to the place Schneidlingen, but to the gentlemen of the same. Between 1126 and 1134 the noble lords "von Snedlinge" appear for the first time in a document. The Sachsenspiegel counts this knight family, known in the Middle Ages, to the dynasty. In the 13th century, the place belonged to the Anhalt County of Aschersleben. At the beginning of the 14th century, Schneidlingen finally appears in the light of history in the feud between Bishop Albrecht von Halberstadt and the Anhaltiners over the county of Aschersleben. After some nobles had ruled the place as vassals of the bishop in the next period, in 1490 it came into the administration of the Halberstadt cathedral chapter, where it remained until 1811. After the cathedral chapter was dissolved in 1811, a stately domain was established in Schneidlingen. Furthermore, the industrialization associated with mining influenced the development of the place in this century. The mining settlement stretching to the northwest dates from this time. The industrialization found its expression in the place especially through the construction of a connecting railway and the connection to the railway network. But despite the onset of industrialization and the different directions of development, the place has mainly retained its agricultural character to this day. The oldest area of Schneidlingen, with the structure that grew in the Middle Ages, still shapes the appearance and profile of the place.
On November 1, 1928, the Gutsgebiet Schneidlingen was merged with the rural community Schneidlingen.
