The Schreckmümpfeli is a series of short radio plays on Swiss Radio SRF 1 .

They are short crime novels with black humor . The playing time is approx. 6 to 12 minutes. The show is broadcast as a bedtime story every Monday at 11:04 p.m.

"Schreckmümpfeli" is a corruption of "Bettmümpfeli" (Swiss for " bed treats ").

The first broadcast was on November 5, 1975. The show was canceled in 1989, but resumed on November 4, 2002. Some of the radio plays were published on CDs. Since 2005 10 CDs have been published by Christoph Merian Verlag .

The authors of the Schreckmümpfeli are mostly Swiss writers, including well-known ones such as Gion Mathias Cavelty , Lukas Hartmann , Lukas Holliger , Ulrich Knellwolf , Charles Lewinsky , EY Meyer , Milena Moser , Gerold Späth and Urs Widmer . Some well-known German authors such as Peter Neugebauer , Ingrid Noll and Jan Schröter wrote texts for these programs.
