Black thoughts

Black thoughts (in the French-speaking original: Idées noires ) is a series of one- to two-page comics by the Belgian draftsman André Franquin , which he created for Le Trombone illustré , a supplement to the comic magazine Spirou , from 1977 . For some comics, u wrote. a. Yvan Delporte and Gotlib the scenarios. They were published in German in 1983 by Volksverlag and in 2005 by Carlsen Verlag .

Franquin was mainly known as the draftsman of funnies like Spirou and Fantasio or Gaston , but here he shows himself from a dark, macabre and black-humored side. In almost every comic, people who are often responsible for the situations described, die or end up in a hopeless situation. With an extreme use of black and white, he also criticizes the death penalty, environmental pollution and the arms industry.

Franquin provided the comics with various signatures that match the theme.

For Amnesty International , Franquin created Les Combats de Gaston , a comic strip with Gaston, in the style of Black Thoughts.
