The Schwedter Querfahrt (older name: Nipperwieser Querfahrt ) is a branch of the Stromoder . It was originally part of the old Oder before the construction of the Hohensaaten-Friedrichsthaler waterway and is now an important connecting arm that lies entirely in the Lower Oder Valley National Park .
The Schwedter Querfahrt was created in 1925 between Schwedt / Oder and Nipperwiese as a connecting canal with the Schwedt lock , as the water level of the Hohensaaten-Friedrichsthaler waterway is about 40 cm below the Oder. It is part of the Havel-Oder waterway . Contrary to the actual difference in altitude, the journey of a ship towards Schwedt is considered an ascent .
