Script Doctor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A script doctor is a screenwriter , the lack of film scripts ( English scripts ) in a short time "fixed" so that the production of a film can start on time. In some cases the Script Doctor is only used during the shoot .

In contrast to "normal" scriptwriters, Script Doctors are often not mentioned in the credits of the film in which they participated, although they may have made significant dramaturgical changes, as only a small proportion of the total text comes from them. However, sometimes several Script Doctors are worn out one after the other in a project until the elaboration finds the approval of the producers. Known as Script Doctors are William Goldman , Joss Whedon and Carrie Fisher , among others .
