Seal
Seal (* 19th February 1963 in London , England as Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel ) is a British singer of Nigerian and Brazilian descent.
Childhood and youth
Seal was born to a Nigerian mother and a Brazilian father in Paddington, London . He spent the first years of his life with foster parents until his mother took him back into the family at the age of five. His attempt to take up an artistic profession was not accepted by his father and responded with physical violence. Seal stood on stage for the first time at the age of eleven. At the age of 15 he ran away from home. He finished his school education and began to study architecture . After graduating, he got by with odd jobs as he continued trying to pursue an artistic career.
Career
Seal traveled to Asia with the English funk band Push and stayed there for a while. After his return to London in 1989 he worked as a studio singer and recorded the song Killer with the musician and producer Adamski , which was released in the spring of 1990. The single became a number 1 hit in the UK and enjoyed international success. And although he wasn't named on the cover, but only among the contributors, it was the trigger for his successful solo career. In autumn 1990 his single Crazy was released , which made it to first place in Switzerland and stayed in the hit parade for a total of 23 weeks.
On April 20, 1992, Seal performed with the remaining three musicians from Queen at London's Wembley Stadium at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert and sang the song Who Wants to Live Forever with them . His title Kiss from a Rose was released in mid-1994 with a music video, but only became a success with a new video the following year through the film Batman Forever . In the following years Seal worked with well-known artists such as Joni Mitchell and Jeff Beck .
In the sixth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar , Seal presented his new single I Can't Stand the Rain on March 13, 2009 . In October 2011, his appearance at the birthday party of Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov , who was accused of serious human rights violations, led to criticism. Seal has been a jury member and coach on the Australian edition of the vocal talent show The Voice , which airs on Nine Network , since its first season in 2012 . On May 13, 2012 Seal performed live with Flavor Flav at an aftershow by Prince in Australia. From October to December 2019, Seal was the Leopard candidate of the second season of the US offshoot of The Masked Singer and was eliminated in fourth place in the semifinals.
Private
Seal has suffered from the autoimmune disease lupus erythematosus , which caused the scars on his face, since he was a teenager .
After living in Los Angeles for several years , he returned to London in 2003, where he moved in with Heidi Klum . The two married in May 2005 in Mexico and are parents of two sons (* 2005, * 2006), a daughter (* 2009) and a daughter from a previous relationship with Klums, who was adopted by Seal. Seal lived with the family in Brentwood , Los Angeles. In January 2012, the couple announced their separation; Klum filed for divorce in April.
