Sean Fine

Sean Fine is an American documentary filmmaker who, together with his wife Andrea Nix Fine, received the Oscar in the category of best short documentary film for the documentary Inocente .

Life

He is the son of a cameraman or director and a film editor or director. He attended St. Patrick's Episcopal Day School in Washington, DC until 1986 and took a summer film course at New York University . He then studied at Connecticut College , where he graduated in zoology and filmmaking in 1996. After college, he began working at National Geographic , where he met his future wife, Andrea Nix, whom he eventually married in 2003. In the same year you founded the production company Fine Films .

He then directed several documentaries before producing the documentary War / Dance with his wife in 2007 . Here they tell the story of three Ugandan children who want to take part in a music festival. For this work, he and his wife were nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Documentary in 2008. In 2013, after another nomination in the documentary short film category , he finally received the award for the film Inocente , in which he tells the story of a 15-year-old homeless girl who wants to become an artist.
