Sebastian Winkler (born February 2, 1982 in Munich ) is a German actor .

Life

Sebastian Winkler grew up in Glonn in Upper Bavaria . From 2004 to 2006 he studied acting at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg . In 2006 he moved to the August Everding Theater Academy in the Prinzregententheater in Munich and completed his acting studies in 2008 with a state diploma. In Munich he was engaged for several productions at the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel during his studies , where he remained committed for several years after graduating. This was followed by engagements at the Heilbronn Theater , the State Theater on Gärtnerplatz and the Stuttgart State Theater .

In 2013 he received the young talent award of the festival city of Wunsiedel for his performance in Shakespeare's Hamlet and the Monty Python musical Spamalot at the Luisenburg Festival . As a result, in August 2013 he signed the Golden Book of the festival city of Wunsiedel.

In 2014 at the Vorarlberger Landestheater in Bregenz , the opera-theater-pop project "Alcin @" started working together with the director and Nestroy award winner Bernd Liepold-Mosser and the Austrian indie band Naked Lunch around Oliver Welter and Herwig Zamernik . This was the beginning of an ongoing and regular cooperation between the director, musicians from the band and the actors, such as in the production of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" in 2016 at the Theater an der Rott , leading to the 34th Bavarian Theater Days in 2016 was invited and the open-air production "The Black Rider" in Villach in 2017.

In 2016 Winkler took on the leading role of "Max Bialystock" in the musical production The Producers at the Regensburg Theater . The production by Dominik Wilgenbus caused a sensation nationwide and became a popular success in the 2016/17 season. In April 2018, Winkler was praised in the international print edition of The New York Times for his portrayal of the stilted foot in the production of the Tom Waits musical The Black Rider , directed by Jan Langenheim at the Regensburg Theater.

Sebastian Winkler is regularly in front of the camera for various TV and film productions. The film "#wannadie" by Anja Badeck, in which the actor took on the role of "Rico", was nominated at the 2018 Max Ophüls Film Festival in the category "best medium-length film" and was awarded the audience award at the 2018 Bremen Film Prize.

  • At the turn of the millennium, Sebastian Winkler was known as “B.-G. Murphy ”trumpeter of the band“ Moreshi ”. All of the musicians involved named themselves after characters from the cartoon series The Simpsons and only appeared in public under these names, which they also had in their identity cards as artist names. Based on this pseudonym, Winkler used the abbreviation "M." in his actor's name for a short time. In 2002 the band was named “Munich Act of the Year” with its mix of jazz and punk.
  • Before studying acting, Winkler began training as a nurse. After a year and a half, he prematurely ended his training without a degree and applied to drama schools.
