Sébastien Toutant (born November 9, 1992 in Repentigny ) is a Canadian snowboarder . He is a two-time Olympic athlete (2014, 2018) and starts in the freestyle disciplines.

Career

Toutant has been participating in the TTR World Snowboard Tour competitions since 2006 . He won his first victory at the beginning of the 2008/09 season in the Big Air competition at Billabong SnowStock 08. He also won that season in Big Air at the Quiksilver Showdown over the City on Grouse Mountain . He took second place in slopestyle at the Burton US Open at Stratton Mountain Resort and at the Burton Canadian Open in Calgary . The following season he won the Slopestyle at the Burton New Zealand Open in Cardrona , the Stylewars in Falls Creek and the Big Air competition at freestyle.berlin in Berlin . He took second place at freestyle.ch in Zurich and third place in slopestyle at the Burton US Open at Stratton Mountain Resort.

In the 2010/11 season he won the Big Air competition at the Billabong Ante Up in Whistler , the Air & Style in Beijing and in slopestyle at the O'Neill Evolution in Davos . He achieved second place at freestyle.ch in Zurich and at Toyota Big Air in Tokyo . In October 2010 he drove his first FIS World Cup race in London , which he finished in 12th place in Big Air. A month later he won his first World Cup victory in Big Air in Stockholm . At the Winter X Games 2011 in Aspen , he won silver in Big Air and gold in Slopestyle. In February 2011 he won his second World Cup race in the Big Air competition in Stoneham . At the Winter-X-Games-Europe 2011 in Tignes , he won silver in slopestyle. He finished the season in fifth place in the World Snowboard Tour overall ranking, fourth place in the FIS Freestyle overall ranking and second place in the FIS Big Air ranking.

At the beginning of the 2011/12 season Toutant finished second in the Billabong Ante Up and in slopestyle at the Burton New Zealand Open in Cardrona . This was followed by two second places in slopestyle on the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge and Killington and one victory on the Tour in Snowbasin . At the Winter X Games 2012 he won bronze in the Big Air competition. In February 2012 he won silver in slopestyle at the 2012 Snowboard World Championships in Oslo . At the end of the season he won the Burton US Open. In the 2012/13 season he came second in slopestyle at the Burton High Fives , in Big Air competition at Billabong Air & Style in Innsbruck and third in slopestyle at the Burton European Open in Laax . At the Winter X Games Europe 2013 in Tignes he won gold in slopestyle. He finished the season in first place in the Tour Big Air classification. In his first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014 , he came ninth in slopestyle. In April 2014, he came second in the Slopestyle at The Shred Show in Whistler and in Big Air at the Ride Shakedown in Mont Saint-Sauveur .

At the beginning of the 2014/15 season he won in slopestyle at The Mile High in the Perisher Blue . At the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge he finished second in slopestyle. In February 2015 he finished third in slopestyle at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Mammoth and second in big air at Air & Style in Los Angeles . At the end of the season he took second place in Big Air at the shakedown in Mont Avila . In January 2016, he came third in slopestyle at the Laax Open in Laax . In the same month he won the silver medal in Slopestyle at the Winter X Games 2016 in Aspen . He also took fourth place in Big Air. In February 2016 he won the Air & Style in Innsbruck and finished eighth in Los Angeles. At the X-Games Oslo 2016 in Oslo he finished tenth in Big Air. In March 2016 he came third in slopestyle at the Burton US Open in Vail . At the 2016 Snowboard World Championships in Yabuli , he won the bronze medal in the Big Air competition. He also achieved 21st place in slopestyle. After winning the Slopestyle at the Cardrona Games at the beginning of the 2016/17 season, he finished second at the Air & Style in Beijing in November 2016 . This was followed by a third place in slopestyle at the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge and a second place at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix and World Cup in Copper Mountain . At the Winter X Games 2017 , he finished ninth in slopestyle and fourth in big air. In February 2017, he won the slopestyle World Cup in Québec and thus achieved seventh place in both the Slopestyle World Cup and the Freestyle World Cup. At the X-Games Norway 2017 in Hafjell he won the bronze medal in slopestyle and finished fourth in Big Air.

In Big Air, which was held for the first time as part of the Olympic snowboard competition, he won the gold medal on February 24, 2018 in Pyeongchang , South Korea . In the slopestyle he came 11th. At the Winter X Games 2018 he was tenth in slopestyle and fourth in Big Air at the X Games Norway 2018 in Fornebu and fourth in both Slopestyle and Big Air the following year at the Winter X Games . In the 2019 season / 20 he won his fourth World Cup victory in the Slopestyle in Laax and thus achieved sixth place in the Slopestyle World Cup. At the Winter X Games 2020 , he came 17th in Slopestyle.
