The rishi coffin of the ruler

Anjotef VI. (extended throne name actually written Sechem-Re-heru-her-Maat-anjotef ) was an ancient Egyptian king ( pharaoh ) of the 17th Dynasty ( Second Intermediate Period ) and ruled after Franke around 1560 BC. Chr.

numbering

The order and classification of the rulers of the Second Intermediate Period is still a major problem for research. Ryholt calls this Anjotef Anjotef VIII and sees him as the successor to Nubcheperre Anjotef, von Beckerath, on the other hand, calls him Antef VII and sees him as the successor to Sechemre-Wepmaat Anjotef , since there is a short inscription on the latter's coffin that says states that the coffin was donated by an Anjotef. The spelling of the name with an additional i character is seen by von Beckerath as a prescription of the aa character, which can be found in Sechemre-heru-her-maat Anjotef.

supporting documents

He probably only reigned for a short time and is known with certainty only from his coffin, which was found in Dra Abu el-Naga in Thebes. ( Jürgen von Beckerath suspects that he was murdered.) His modest Rishi coffin is now in the Louvre / Paris , this was also found in Dra Abu el-Naga .
