The coat of arms was taken over from Godenstedt because the remains of a mammoth were found during the mining of marl in Godenstedt .

military

The paratrooper barracks , which are used by the German Armed Forces today, are located in the area of ​​Seedorf . From 1963 to 2006 units of the Dutch army were stationed there.
