The Selketalstieg is a 74 km long hiking trail in the Harz Mountains . It starts at the train station stairs of Selketalbahn in stairs ( 485 m ) and partly follows the river Selke . The towns of Stiege , Güntersberge , Straßberg (district of Lindenberg ), Silberhütte , Alexisbad , Mägdesprung , Meisdorf , Ballenstedt , Gernrode , Bad Suderode , Quarmbeck and Quedlinburg are on the route . The end of the Selketalstieg is on Carl-Ritter-Strasse in Quedlinburg ( 125 m ). The highest point is the watershed between Hassel and Selke ( 500 m ) at the beginning of the path. The hiking trail was founded in 2006 by the Harz Transport Association. The associated signpost shows the silhouette of Falkenstein Castle in dark red on a white background.
The path leads through varied landscapes and largely parallel to the route network of the Harz narrow-gauge railway.
In Güntersberge, the 14.5 km long Bode-Selke-Stieg branches off to Treseburg .
Since 2006, the Ottonenlauf , a running, hiking and Nordic walking event with currently 26.1, 45.2 and 69 kilometers of routes, has taken place on the Selketalstieg every year.

- Stage 1: Stiege - Alexisbad (26 km, 610 meters in altitude )
- Stage 2: Alexisbad - Meisdorf (22 km, 542 meters in altitude)
- Stage 3: Meisdorf - Bad Suderode (17 km, 498 meters in altitude)
- Stage 4: Bad Suderode - Quedlinburg (9 km, 94 meters in altitude)
