Semantic Interpretation for Speech Recognition

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Semantic Interpretation for Speech Recognition (SISR) defines the syntax and semantics of comments for grammar rules in the Speech Recognition Grammar Specification (SRGS). Since April 5, 2007, SISR has been a recommendation of the World Wide Web Consortium .

Building on SRGS grammars, it allows voice browsers to interpret complex grammar via ECMAScript and to deliver the information back to the program. For example, it allows utterances like “I would like a Coca Cola and three large pizzas with peppers and mushrooms” to be interpreted in an object that can be understood by other programs.

Such an object could look something like this:

 {
   getränk: {
     flüssigkeit:"coke",
     größe:"mittel"},
   pizza: {
     anzahl: "3",
     pizzagröße: "groß",
     belag: [ "Peperoni", "Pilze" ]
   }
 }

An SRGS grammar with SISR markup that outputs this object is the following:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE grammar PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD GRAMMAR 1.0//EN"
                  "http://www.w3.org/TR/speech-grammar/grammar.dtd">
