Serge Ognadon Akakpo (born October 15, 1987 in Lomé ) is a Togolese - Benin - French football player . The right defender has been under contract with Turkish second division club Gazişehir Gaziantep FK since the second half of the 2016/17 season .

Career

society

Akakpo was signed as a youth by AJ Auxerre , but until the end of 2008 he played almost exclusively in youth and reserve teams. In the winter break 08/09 he moved to the Romanian first division club FC Vaslui. Here he was used in 13 first division and one European cup game.

In the summer of 2015 Akakpo moved to the 2nd Turkish league at 1461 Trabzon . For the second half of the 2015/16 season, the club loaned him to Trabzonspor , its mother club. In the summer of 2016 he was given to the second division club Gazişehir Gaziantep FK .

National team

Internationally, Akakpo first belonged to various youth selections in France and was 2004 U-17 European champion with Les Bleus . After a game for Benin's B selection , he decided to continue his career in the A team of his native Togo, where he has been one of the regular players since 2008, including in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup .

Akakpo was appointed to the squad of the Togolese selection for the 2010 African Cup in Angola . During the journey on January 8, 2010, the team bus was attacked by rebels from a faction of the FLEC shortly after entering behind the Angolan-Congolese border in the Cabinda exclave near Lagoa Massabi . Two people were killed and several team members were injured, including goalkeeper Kodjovi Obilalé and Akakpo. However, at no time were both players in acute danger.
