Sergei Rudenko ( Russian Сергей Игнатьевич Руденко , scientific. Transliteration Sergei Rudenko Ignat'evič * 7 . Jul / 20th October  1904 greg. In Korop , today in the Oblast Chernihiv ; † 10. July 1990 in Moscow ) was a Soviet Pilot .

Life

In 1923 Rudenko joined the military. He attended the military aviation school from 1927, became a member of the CPSU in 1928 , switched to the Zhukovsky Academy and graduated there in 1932. After a subsequent employment as a squadron leader, Rudenko took up another degree at the operational faculty of the military academy, which he finished in 1936. Rudenko then took over first an air regiment and later an air brigade. In January 1941 he was promoted to division commander. After the outbreak of war Rudenko held various leadership positions within the Southern Front , the Kalininer Front , the Volkhov Front and the Southwest Front . In October 1942 he took over the 16th Air Army , where he was honored as a Hero of the Soviet Union for his services in its leadership and organization as a commander in the rank of Colonel General of the Aviators on August 19, 1944 .

After the war, he moved to various positions in the air force in 1945 until he was appointed as a deputy to the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1946 .

In 1949 Rudenko appeared as a witness in the worldwide acclaimed Paris trial between the communist magazine " Les Lettres françaises " and the former Soviet diplomat Viktor A. Kravchenko .

In 1950 Rudenko was appointed commander-in-chief of the long-range air forces with simultaneous command as deputy commander-in-chief of the air force. In June 1953 he was promoted to Chief of Staff of the Air Force, in 1955 he became Marshal of the Aviators . From 1961 to 1966 Rudenko was a member of the Central Committee of the CPSU. In May 1968 he became head of the Air Force Military Academy "JA Gagarin" for several years . In 1972 he was appointed professor and in August 1973 he moved to the Ministry of Defense as inspector.

He has received numerous awards for his work, including the Order of Lenin five times, the Order of the Red Banner four times and the Order of the October Revolution once .

In 1976 he published his memoirs ( Крылья победы , German  wing of victory ).
