Session (CD)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A session is a data track on an optical data carrier ( CD , CD-ROM , DVD , Blu-ray Disc ). A data carrier can contain one (single-session disk) or several (multi-session disk). CDs according to the Rainbow Books Standard may only contain one session.

There are two types of recording: Track-At-Once , whereby the CD is not finalized so that data can still be added, and Session-At-Once , whereby this is generally no longer possible, namely when the CD from the burning program is finished is marked. The recording types can be selected manually in the burning program. This mainly causes problems with other playback devices e.g. B. CD players , DVD players, etc. a. because they cannot recognize a second data track.
