Life

Early in the film business, Shannon McIntosh was involved in the development of documentaries, commercials, music videos, various public broadcasting service programs, corporate training videos, and medical education films.

In 1992 she started working for the production and distribution company Miramax of the brothers Bob and Harvey Weinstein , where she was responsible for production, post-production and programming for several years. She initially developed short video documentations there and was later responsible for the English-language versions of the Hong Kong action films published in the USA by Dimension Films (the Miramax branch for the genre film sector). These included the Jackie Chan films Dragon Lord (1982), Project A (1983) and Project A Part II (1987) , released in the late 1990s .

In 2005 the Weinstein brothers left Miramax and founded The Weinstein Company (TWC), a new company. McIntosh, who had meanwhile become Executive Vice President for Broadcasting and Video Production and Post Production at Miramax, moved to TWC and became, among other things, the company's Executive Vice President of Production. Her responsibilities included production, post-production, marketing, advertising and home entertainment. DVD production, including all aspects of content development, as well as versioning of films for all ancillary markets such as TV and airline versions, dubbed versions, mastering, duplication and on-demand formatting were also her responsibility. She had a decisive influence on the way TWC worked. As an executive producer she worked on three films ( Death Proof (2007), Inglourious Basterds (2009) and Django Unchained (2012)) by Quentin Tarantino .

McIntosh has been an independent producer since 2012. She first developed the low-budget films My Neighbor Santa Claus (2013) and Tusk (2014) before collaborating with Tarantino again on his film The Hateful Eight in 2015 .

She has received various awards for her productions (including a Golden Eagle and several Chicago Film Festival Intercom Awards) and DVD bonus material (including several DVDA Awards). In 2020, the fifth collaboration with Tarantino on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019) was followed by an Oscar nomination for best film .

In Los Angeles living McIntosh is married to Jody Rath and has two sons.
