Shiver is an Austrian German rock band from Graz .

Band history

Roman Pachernegg (bass), Robert Schönhofer (electric guitar) and the first drummer Markus Zizek were already school friends and experimented in various formations until Andreas Gasser (vocals, acoustic guitar) completed the quartet in 1998. The band tried their own (English) numbers in the style of the great models U2 , REM , Nirvana and the grungerock scene of that time. In 2000 the band made the decision to write their own lyrics in German in the future.

In the following years Shiver played on various regional stages. In 2005 they took part in the Ö3 Soundcheck (Austria's largest band competition), reached the final and won the following audience vote. This was followed by a record deal with EMI Austria, the first single production and Austria-wide airplay . After the album production, drummer Markus left the band in favor of his university studies and was replaced by Bernhard Wimmer.

As a result, the band played almost 50 appearances in German-speaking countries in 2005, where they appeared as the opening act with the sons of Mannheim , Liquido , Alanis Morissette and Silbermond . In autumn 2005 they gave a four-week tour of Austria.

After the second album, "Herzlich Willkommen", failed to match the success of the debut work "Between the Lines", Shiver became quiet.

In 2008 the band returned with a new line-up after a creative break with a new song on the Ö3 channel. Of the original band members, only Andreas Gasser is still in the band.

Benefit song

For the Licht ins Dunkel campaign , the band took part in the recording of a benefit song called Kinder ( see Die neue Österreicher ).
