Shobhaa De

Shobhaa De , also Shobhaa Dé (* 7. January 1948 as Anuradha Rajadhyaksha in Maharashtra ) is an Indian author . The Mumbai-based author is married with six children.

She studied psychology at St. Xavier's College in Mumbai and began a career as a model when she was 17 . In 1970, when she was 22, she started working as a journalist and founded three successful magazines: the movie magazine Stardust , Society and Celebrity. In 1988 she started writing novels and has been a freelance writer ever since.

Her 13 books, including nine novels, and her guides Surviving Men and Speedpost: Letters to My Children and her autobiography Selective Memory: Stories from My Life were all bestsellers in India. Her columns in Bombay Times , The Sunday Times and the Week reach a readership of 10 million a month. The Bombay Times column is also published in the Delhi , Kolkata , Bangalore , and Ahmedabad editions of the Times of India .
