Siegfried Isaacsohn

Siegfried Isaacsohn (born 1845 in Marienburg ; died November 27, 1882 in Berlin) was a German historian and high school teacher.

Life

In 1855 the family moved to Berlin, where Siegfried attended the French grammar school. There he also obtained his Abitur .

Isaacsohn heard during his studies from 1867 to 1870 at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität among others with Leopold von Ranke , Harry Bresslau and Johann Gustav Droysen and was given a thesis on the Franco-German war in 1674 and the relationship of the Viennese court the same doctorate. He worked on the Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie , to which he contributed a number of articles. In 1880 he was involved in the edition of the documents and documents on the history of Elector Friedrich Wilhelm von Brandenburg . He married in October 1880. Nevertheless, he remained "always a high school teacher in the socially less exclusive East of Berlin and an outspoken outsider in the historical guild".

Isaacsohn died of typhus in 1882 .
