Sigrid Ruby

Sigrid Ruby (* 1968 ) is a German art historian .

Career

Sigrid Ruby studied art history , American studies and economics in Bonn , Frankfurt am Main and Cambridge from 1987 to 1994 . She completed her studies at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn with a thesis on Diane de Poitiers as an art patron. She received her doctorate from the University of Bonn in 1998 and qualified as a professor in 2007 .

From 1998 Ruby was a research assistant at the Institute for Art History at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . She held temporary substitute professorships at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , the Philipps University in Marburg , the Institute for Art History at the Saarland University and the University of Vienna . In the winter semester 2014/15 she accepted a professorship for art history at Saarland University. For the 2016/17 winter semester, she accepted the call of the Justus Liebig University in Giessen, where she took on the role of director of the art history institute.

Ruby is co-founder of the joint project “ Prometheus - The distributed digital image archive for research and teaching”.
