Siv Friðleifsdóttir , full name Björg Siv Juhlin Friðleifsdóttir , (born August 10, 1962 in Oslo ) is an Icelandic politician of the Progress Party . She was Environment Minister and Minister for Nordic Cooperation from 1999 to 2004, and Minister of Health for Iceland from 2006 to 2007.

Life

Siv Friðleifsdóttir is a trained physiotherapist and worked in this profession until she was elected to the Icelandic parliament Althing in 1995. She was initially a member of parliament for what was then the constituency of Reykjanes , and since the redistribution of constituencies in Iceland from 2003 to 2013 for the southwest constituency . From 1999 to 2004 she was Environment Minister and Minister for Nordic Cooperation, and from 2006 and 2007 Minister of Health.

From 2007 to 2009 Siv Friðleifsdóttir was group leader of the Progressive Party. From 2009 to 2011 she was in fourth place ( 4th varaforseti ) in the Vice-Presidency of Parliament. From 1995 to 1999 and from 2007 to 2013 she was a member of the Icelandic delegation to the Nordic Council . She was also a member of the Icelandic delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Western European Union from 1995 to 1999 and was Vice-Chair of the Icelandic delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from 2004 to 2006 .

As of 2020 she is a member of the Council for Free Movement of Persons and the Nordic Committee of Senior Officials for Health and Social Affairs of the Nordic Council.
