Song Gaozong

Song Gaozong ( Chinese  宋高宗 , Pinyin Sòng Gāozōng , Jyutping Sung 1 Gou 2 zung 1 , * June 12, 1107 ; † November 9, 1187 ), personal name Zhao Gou ( 趙構  /  赵构 , Zhào Gòu ), court name Deji ( 德基 , Déjī ), was the tenth emperor of the Song Dynasty , and the first of the Southern Song Dynasty .

After the Jurchen invasion of northern China, Emperors Qinzong and Huizong were captured, Gaozong fled south and settled in Hangzhou , where he continued the fight against the Jurchen Jin dynasty . He abdicated in 1162.

His reign is divided into the reigns of Jianyan ( 建 炎 , Jìanyán ) from 1127 to 1130 and Shaoxing ( 紹興  /  绍兴 , Shàoxīng ) from 1131 to 1162.
