Sorbara is an Italian village in the municipality of Bomporto in the Emilia-Romagna region . It is located at an altitude of about 25 m slm about 3.4 kilometers northwest of Bomporto. On July 2, 1084 , near Sorbara, the battle between the Holy Roman Emperor Henry IV and the papal army under Mathilde von Canossa broke out . The place is named after the battle of Sorbara , as well as for the wine Lambrusco di Sorbara .
