Sowkomflot ( Russian Совкомфлот ; English transcription Sovcomflot , also Sovkomflot or SCF Group ) is a Russian state company . The shipping company , based in St. Petersburg , specializes in the transport of crude oil and liquefied natural gas .
The company currently operates 143 ships with a total displacement of 12,411,552 dwt . These include 63 oil tankers, 50 product tankers, 10 gas tankers and 10 shuttle tankers.
In 2007 an IPO was planned. The former Russian Transport Minister Sergei Ottowitsch Frank has been General Director since 2004 .

The shipping company was founded on June 22, 1988 as a trading company Soviet Commercial Fleet . The founding shareholders were the USSR Merchant Navy Ministry and shipping companies Far Eastern , Black Sea , Novorossiysk , Latvian , Baltic and Soviet Danube . When it was founded, the shipping company took over a total of 150 ships from the shipping companies involved at a value of 250 million rubles in share capital. There were also 28 other units operated in joint ventures or dependent shipping companies. In total, according to Lloyd's List , the shipping company started with 178 units with a total of 3.4 million tons and a value of 1.8 billion rubles.
The company is divided into the following group companies:
- PAO Sovcomflot ( Russian Публичное акционерное общество Совкомфлот (ПАО Совкомфлот) ), headquartered in Moscow - this part of the enterprise is working as an operator of LNG and LPG gas tankers , Suezmax -Tankern, Aframax -Tankern of ice-going shuttle tankers, product tankers and multipurpose vessels
- Novorossijskoje morskoje parochodstwo , based in Novorossiysk - this part of the company operates as an operator of Aframax tankers, product tankers and bulk carriers .
- Sovcomflot (Cyprus) Limited, based in Limassol - this part of the company is responsible for the deployment and chartering of the ships.
- Unicom Management Services (Cyprus) Ltd. based in Limassol - this part of the company is responsible for the technical operation and manning of the ships. In addition, Unicom carries out the newbuilding planning and construction supervision of the ships.
- Sovcomflot (UK) Ltd. based in London - this part of the company is used for finance, property and payments within the group.
- SCF Marpetrol SA based in Madrid - this part of the company operates as an operator of chemical tankers and asphalt tankers and as the basis for the Spanish LNG market.
- SAO Rosnefteflot ( ЗАО Роснефтефлот ) based in Moscow - this part of the company operates as an operator of oil storage and transshipment vessels , terminals and offshore vessels.
In 2002 the Russian state shipping company set up a Ro / Ro freight service called SCF St. Petersburg Line between Kiel and St. Petersburg, which was decided to continue with the Danish DFDS Tor Line under the name SCF DFDS Line in September 2005.
Since 2010 Sowkomflot has been using the Northeast Passage (Sewmorput) as an efficient sea route to Asia.
