Social Democratic Business Association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Austrian Social Democratic Business Association ( SWV ) sees itself as representing the interests of entrepreneurs, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and one-person companies (EPU) in Austria . It is regarded as the SPÖ - apron organization or specialist organization and is largely responsible for the SPÖ's economic program.

history

The association was founded in Vienna in 1897 , at that time still as an association of social democratic traders . In 1906 this merged with a few other associations to form the Reichsverein der Gewerbetreibender und Kaufmen (Reichs Association of Traders and Merchants ), which after the end of the monarchy was renamed the Association of Social Democratic Traders and Merchants . The association was banned from 1934-1945 ( corporate state , National Socialism). Around 1946 it was renamed to the Free Trade Association and in 2004 to its current name.

Today's president is the former Christoph Matznetter , he is also vice-president of the WKÖ and was economic spokesman for the SPÖ .

The largest regional organization is Vienna, and there is also the “young business association” in which young entrepreneurs are involved. Its chairman is Katharina Schinner .
