history

There were no separate social courts in the GDR . Procedures under social law were dealt with by the conflict commissions . Those affected could turn to the complaints committee for social insurance at the FDGB against the decisions. After the fall of the Wall in 1992/1993, the new federal states created state social courts and social courts. The Dresden Social Court has existed since July 1, 1992. Before that, the Dresden District Court - Chamber for Social Law - was responsible for social law proceedings. Former presidents were Dieter Rheinberger , Stefan Gasser and Matthias Grünberg .

There are currently 46 judges working at the Dresden Social Court (as of January 1, 2012) .
