Spazzo

The Spazzo , the Ticino fathom , was a measure of length, area and space in southern Switzerland and was valid until the switch to the metric system.

As a length measure, the Spazzo comprised 3 Lugano cubits and was therefore about 1.808 meters .

It was used as a measure of area for mountainous fields and corresponded to 3.54 square meters .

The spatial dimension for firewood corresponded to 3 to just under 6 (5.83) cubic meters in the Spazzo .
