Special Tony Award
The Special Tony Award is a special award from the American Tony Awards , which have honored actors , directors , authors , composers , producers and entertainers for their work on New York's Broadway since 1947 . The irregularly awarded Special Tony relates both to the life's work of theater professionals as well as to outstanding achievements that produced such things outside of the regular schedule; Likewise, ensembles, works or institutions can be honored, as was first done in 1948 at the Experimental Theater .
