The Speedway Ekstraliga is the highest speedway league in Poland . The first Polish speedway championships were held in 1948. In 2000, the semi-professional Ekstraliga żużlowa was founded. On June 21, 2006 the Speedway Ekstraliga GmbH was founded in Bydgoszcz , which is supposed to hold the Polish championships professionally. The registered office of the GmbH is Bydgoszcz. The Polish league is considered the strongest league in the world after a total of six titles in the Speedway European Cup . As a substructure, there is also a 1st and a 2nd league, in which teams from abroad also start. In the first division it is currently Lokomotiv Daugavpils from Latvia .
