purpose

The badge is intended for gymnastics or sports associations at local, regional or national level that have made special contributions to the maintenance and development of gymnastics or sport. The same applies to gymnastics and sports clubs.

Award criteria

The Federal President's sports badge is a non-wearable award that is only awarded on special request on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of an association or club. The application must be submitted by the relevant gymnastics or sports association or gymnastics or sports club no later than six months before its 100th anniversary. Application forms can be called up from the relevant regional sports association , via which the application is forwarded to the recommendation committee of the German Olympic Sports Association after a factual examination. This committee consists of five members, one representative of the Federal Minister of the Interior , one representative of the Sports Ministers' Conference of the federal states and three members of the DOSB.

Award

The award takes place on the proposal of the German Olympic Sports Confederation with the participation of the responsible state minister for sport and the federal minister of the interior to the head of the office of the federal president.

The certificate for the award of the plaque is issued by the Federal President. The certificate and plaque are handed out by him, the responsible state minister for sport or a representative (e.g. the responsible mayor or mayor).

In the case of German gymnastics or sports clubs based abroad, the certificate and plaque are handed over by the responsible official representation and the Foreign Office , which in this case forwards the application of the club in question to the recommendation committee.
