The Spreehöfe in the Berlin district of Oberschöneweide at the corner of Edisonstrasse and Wilhelminenhofstrasse 87-90 are an industrial monument that was created as the R. Frister lamp factory. From 1996, the old lamp factory, together with the adjoining site of the gas station, forms the Spreehöfe leisure and commercial center with a restaurant, sports studio, dance studio, service providers, medical practices, offices and shops on the ground floor .

At the corner of Edisonstrasse and Wilhelminenhofstrasse 87, the Frister lamp factory was built between 1897 and 1900 according to plans by the construction company R. Guthmann Nachsteiger. In 1920 the company reached full production capacity with numerous structural extensions. In 1933 and 1934 the lamp factory went bankrupt . Then in 1937 the company "Metallverarbeitung Schöneweide" moved in. Four years later, the “Society for Aviation Requirement” came to these rooms. In 1952 the VEB RFT Funkwerk Köpenick took over the production in this building. In 1963 the "Institute for Telecommunications" moved in with additional renovations. After the political change , the Spreehöfe were created by the new owners and through renovations from 1996.

The Oberspree gas station was built in this building in 1898 (later: Berlin gas works). The second telescopic gas tank was built in 1906 and demolished by Gasag in 1993 . In 1937 there was a partial takeover of the site by Allgemeine Deutsche Metallwerke Oberschöneweide. SAG ADMOS existed from 1945 to 1950 . From 1950 to 1991 VEB Berliner Metallhütten und Halbzeugwerke was located in the building. In 1992 ADMOS Gleitlager GmbH was founded. Between 1997 and 2000 there was a change of name to ADMOS Immobilien AG. In 1998 ADMOS acquired the rest of the Gasag site.

The Oberspree gas works (later: Berlin gas works) was located on this property from 1898 to 1993. In 1897, the Salomon plush factory was added. Norddeutsche Eisenwerke was founded in 1905, but had to stop production in 1909. The property went to Allgemeine Deutsche Metallwerke Oberschöneweide (ADMOS) in the same year. In 1920 the chemical factory / Iso-Press-Werk moved there. In 1946 the Isopress Werk GmbH - Berliner Kunststoffpresswerk - was added. In 1950 the VEB Berliner Metallhütten- und Halbzeugwerke followed as a property user. ADMOS Gleitlager GmbH has also been in this building since 1992, and between 1998 and 2000 the name was changed to ADMOS Immobilien AG.

Use as a business park

The Spreehöfe Center of ADMOS Immobilien has 26,000 m² of rental space for trade, commerce, leisure and gastronomy directly on the Spree. Some of the 32 buildings are under monument protection and, if necessary, have been adapted to requirements using modern architecture. The location is promoted by the district with the surrounding industrial wasteland.

When it was taken over by the Treuhandanstalt, the lamp property on Edisonstrasse initially belonged to GbR Weber & Huschke, which went into bankruptcy in 2003 and the property came under administration. The market value was stated in the report as six million euros. The marketing of the individual parts of the industrial area was slow, in particular the buildings of the lamp factory, which were initially shaped as "Spreehöfe", were left in place. The other buildings have been owned by ADMOS Immobilien AG since 1996, which meanwhile markets the entire property as the “Spreehöfe-Oberschöneweide leisure and commercial center”. With the subsequent reorganization of the ownership structure, they were expanded as a Spreehöfe center. There are various leisure facilities here, such as a bowling center , the Spreehöfe cinema , a billiards salon and a fitness studio, as well as several dining options. Furthermore, several commercial enterprises and service companies have their headquarters here. The trade is represented by a supermarket, a bookstore and companies from the automotive industry. Medical and dental practices and other medical facilities have also settled here. There is a parking garage behind the cinema facing the Spree. The gas transfer station is available as house 15 on plot 89 behind the cinema next to the parking garage. With the location and the diversity of the abandoned industry in Ober- and Niederschöneweide on both banks, reactivation of the location is difficult and there have been repeated attempts in Oberschöneweide since the 1990s. The loss of 30,000 jobs in the early 1990s led to the collapse of Elektropolis . Advertised as the Spreehöfe adventure factory, there is the contrast between the restored industrial ambience and the variety of options on offer: billiard hall and bowling facility, dance and fitness studios, music school, large cinema, discos and restaurants ("Schöne Weyde").

The entire Edisonstrasse / Wilhelminenhofstrasse complex on the banks of the Spree came into the possession of ADMOS and forms the Spreehöfe business park. These include the buildings Wilhelminenhofstrasse 87, which are closed along Edisonstrasse, with houses A – F and courtyards 1–3 arranged in a comb-like manner. House 30 of the Spreehöfe is at Wilhelminenhofstraße 88 with the lettering above the passage, the building complex around the park / market square and the cinema adjoins it as number 89 and is separated from 89a by houses (16 and 17) standing across. To the west of the street the buildings are addressed as Wilhelmhofstraße 90. ADMOS Immobilien is located in building 9 at address 89a and the ADMOS sliding bearings production rooms are still in buildings 11, 13, 14 and 22/23. The art settlement is made easier because the commercial environment means that no complaints from residents about noise are raised.
