Spring Hill is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hernando County in the US state of Florida with 98,621 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Spring Hill is about 10 km southwest of Brooksville and about 50 km north of Tampa . The CDP is crossed or tangent to US Highway 19 and Florida State Roads 50 and 589 ( Suncoast Parkway , toll).

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 98,621 inhabitants were distributed over 44,823 households. The population density was 716.7 inh / km². 88.1% of the population identified themselves as whites , 5.1% as African-Americans , 0.4% as Indians and 1.4% as Asian Americans . 2.5% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.5% to several ethnic groups. 13.6% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 39.3% of all households lived in 29.8% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 71.1% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.49 people and the average family size was 2.91 people.

23.8% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 20.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.4% were 40 to 59 years old, and 29.1% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 44 years. 47.5% of the population were male and 52.5% were female.

The median annual income was $ 41,568, with 14.1% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 88.64% of the population, 5.97% spoke Spanish and 5.39% had another mother tongue.
