The defending champion for the men was Grégory Gaultier , for the women Isabelle Stoehr . Gaultier reached the final again, where he met Thierry Lincou like last year . At 12:10 and 8: 3 for Lincou, Gaultier gave up due to injury. Isabelle Stoehr was eliminated in the semifinals against Natalie Grinham , who also remained victorious in the final. Grinham defeated Vanessa Atkinson with 9:11, 11: 3, 11: 5 and 11: 4 . It was the first title win for both Lincou and Grinham.

The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 32 players, that of the women's competition consisted of 24 players. There were five starting places for qualifiers for men, no qualification was played for women. Wildcards were not awarded, there are no prize money or world ranking points at European championships. In both fields, positions three and four, positions five to eight and positions nine to 16 were set in the form of a grouped setting. These settlements are therefore given in alphabetical order below.
