The Catholic Church of St. Josef is located in Düsseldorf-Oberbilk . It was once the parish church of the largest community in the Archdiocese of Cologne . Today the parish belongs to the pastoral care area Unter- and Oberbilk, Friedrichstadt and Eller-West.

history

In the course of industrialization, the population of Düsseldorf grew rapidly towards the end of the 19th century, so that the parish of St. Martin had to be divided. A few years after the construction of St. Josef, another church building became necessary, St. Apollinaris was built.

St. Josef was started in 1870 and consecrated in 1872, the tower was not yet completed for financial reasons. After a change of architect, the church tower was completed in 1880.
