St. Michaelskirche in Emden

The Catholic parish church of St. Michael , built between 1946 and 1950, is located in the Groß-Faldern district of Emden . It is the largest building of the Catholic Church in Emden.

history

The predecessor church of the same name of the Catholic community was built in 1806. As a result of the air raids on Emden during the Second World War , the old Michaelskirche was destroyed on September 6, 1944. The reconstruction took place at the same place between 1946 and 1950 according to plans by the church builder Dominikus Böhm .

In 1961 an organ from the Stockmann brothers was installed. The instrument has 21 registers , which are divided into two manuals and pedal. St. Michael was renovated several times during the 1970s and 1990s .

Like the second Catholic church in Emden ( St. Walburga ) and the St. Hedwig chapel in Pewsum, St. Michael belongs to the parish of Christ König .
