Staatsdiener is a German documentary film by Marie Wilke from 2015. The film premiered on June 30, 2015 at the Munich Film Festival . It opened in theaters on August 27, 2015.
action
The film is a long-term observation of German police training. He accompanies police students and gives insight into their ways of thinking. They experience the quiet training and the real, nightly missions, which are much more hectic. The motivation to become a police officer - friend and helper or civil servant who cannot be terminated - is also dealt with. The film does not want to tell a story, it only shows excerpts from reality.
“It was important to me to keep an open view and to create a space in which the viewer can move freely. You can accompany the protagonists on their way, but you stay at a distance. "
reception
The film service said that the film shed light on "the methods and mechanisms of the school, but also the struggle of the budding police officers between high standards and the low levels of everyday life". It is a “differentiated, attentive study that does not evaluate”, “but relies on precise observations and, underground, on a good dose of comedy”.
The German Film and Media Assessment (FBW) awarded the film the title “particularly valuable”.
