Staccatissimo

Staccatissimo (pl. Staccatissimos or staccatissimi ) is a musical performance designation. It describes an extremely short articulation as the intensification form of staccato . As with simple staccato, the symbol for staccatissimo is either a point or a small wedge above or below the note. The composer often also writes the word “staccatissimo” in the musical text for clarification. An example from Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 0 in D minor :
