Stefan Örnskog (born April 4, 1969 in Jönköping ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player who played in his active time from 1987 to 2001 for HV71 in the Swedish Elitserien and JYP Jyväskylä in the Finnish SM-liiga .

Career

Stefan Örnskog began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at HV71 , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Elitserien in the 1987/88 season , scoring three points in a total of 15 games in his rookie year . The center won the Swedish championship with the team in the 1994/95 season for the first and only time in its career .

In the summer of 1998, the left shooter moved to JYP Jyväskylä from the Finnish SM-liiga , which he left after a year and a half in the course of the 1999/2000 season to return to Jönköping. There he ended his career in 2001 at the age of 32. After the season, his number 15 was honored by the HV71 and has not been awarded since then.

International

For Sweden , Örnskog took part in the 1989 World Junior Championships and the 1994 and 1995 World Championships . Furthermore, he was in Sweden's squad for the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer .
