Stefan Gehrer

Stefan Gehrer (* 1967 in Lustenau ) is an Austrian television journalist and presenter of Zeit im Bild . Since 2019 he has presented the information magazines Mittag in Austria and Aktuell in Austria .

Life

Stefan Gehrer was born to the future Minister of Education Elisabeth and Fritz Gehrer. After graduating from high school and doing military service, he studied French at the University of Vienna and business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business . He completed his studies in 1990 (French) and 1995 (Business Administration). In June 1996 he studied at the Columbia School of Journalism , in November 1997 he was at Duke University in North Carolina . During his studies he worked as an editor for the Austria Press Agency (APA) in Bregenz and Vienna as well as for Vorarlberger Nachrichten . He was also a volunteer at the ORF regional studio in Vorarlberg and at the ORF center in Küniglberg .

From 1992 to 1994 he was editor for ORF Teletext , from 1995 editor for Zeit im Bild . In 1999 he presented the economic climate section in the context of the ORF business magazine Euro Austria . In 1998 and 2000 he reported as an ORF correspondent from Brussels , in 2005 he was an ORF correspondent in London . From October 2002 until the end of 2003 he presented the time in the picture at 7:30 p.m., since 2008 he has presented the time in the picture at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. After Rainer Hazivar switched to Austria 1 in November 2018, he again took over the moderation of the main news at 7:30 p.m. at the end of 2018. In early 2019, he was replaced by Johannes Marlovits , and since then Gehrer has presented the information magazines Mittag in Austria and Aktuell in Austria .

In 2012 he commented on the opening of the 179th Oktoberfest in Munich in lederhosen and a checked shirt as well as a liter of beer and a pretzel at the moderation table.
