Stefan Hiller

Stefan Hiller (born June 21, 1942 in Eichstätt ) is an Austrian classical archaeologist .

After studying at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich , he was there in 1966 with a thesis on the myth of Bellerophon doctorate . He then moved to the University of Salzburg , where he completed his habilitation in 1975 and was appointed associate professor in 1978. On the occasion of his 60th birthday, the commemorative publication Temenos was published for him and his colleague Florens Felten . The commemorative publication Stephanos Aristeios: Archaeological research between the Nile and Istros (Vienna 2007) was published on his 65th birthday .

Hiller's research interests include the Mycenaean history , the prehistory of the Aegean and the Balkan Peninsula, and Homeric archeology. Together with Florens Felten, he has been the excavation manager on the Greek island of Aegina since 1993 .
