Stefan Hunstein

Stefan Hunstein (born July 27, 1957 in Kassel ) is a German actor and photo artist .

Life

Stefan Hunstein studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart . In the 1980s he was engaged in Freiburg im Breisgau and at the Schauspielhaus Bochum , where he made a name for himself mainly in productions by Andrea Breth . After Andrea Breth's departure, after a brief engagement at the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel, he joined the Münchner Kammerspiele as an ensemble member under Dieter Dorn , with whom he returned to the Staatsschauspiel in 2001 after eleven years. With Dorn's staging of Botho Strauss final choir at the Münchner Kammerspiele, he secured a participation in the Berlin Theatertreffen for the first time in 1991 and again in 2004 with his role as a doctor in Chekhov's Uncle Vanya for the Bavarian State Theater alongside Sunnyi Melles . He also played u. a. the main role in Brand by Henrik Ibsen in the production by Thomas Langhoff and in Dieter Dorn's productions Maß für Maß (with Sunnyi Melles, Jörg Hube , Rainer Bock and others) and Der Gott des Gemetzels (with Sunnyi Melles, Sibylle Canonica and Michael von Au ) . In 2010 he moved back to the Münchner Kammerspiele. Here he plays u. a. in productions by Johan Simons ( Winterreise , Die Perser ), Gier (Theatertreffen 2011).

In addition, Hunstein has made a name for himself as a television and cinema actor and reciter , u. a. with texts by Thomas Bernhard . In the series The Language Brings It To The Day , he regularly deals with National Socialism in several evenings . His first theater direction worked on the Sorokin text One Month in Dachau . In the theater in the Haus der Kunst , a venue of the Bavarian State Theater, he staged and played Samuel Beckett's “Society”.

Hunstein has been involved in photography since his youth, was awarded the German Photo Prize (1991) and, as a photo artist, has designed numerous solo exhibitions in several European countries.

Stefan Hunstein has been a member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts since 2003 .

From 2000 he lived with the actress Sophie von Kessel and two children, a daughter and a son. In 2010 the couple separated.

Stefan Hunstein is married to Tina Hunstein-Glasl (née Stefan) and lives in Munich.
