Stefan Kobel (born February 13, 1974 in Langenhard , Switzerland ) is a former Swiss beach volleyball player. He played in the position of defender.

Career

Kobel tried in his youth at FC Kollbrunn-Rikon first as Football - Goalie . He started his volleyball career at VC Smash Winterthur at the age of 19 . There he met Patrick Heuscher , with whom he formed a beach volleyball duo from 1996. Her greatest success was winning the bronze medal at the 2004 Olympic Games . In the same year they won the world series tournament in Gstaad and came third in the European championship . The following year they moved into the European Championship finals and were successful on the World Tour in Paris . In 2006, in addition to winning the tournament in Roseto degli Abruzzi, they achieved another third place at the European Championship .

In addition, the Heuscher / Kobel team was also five-time Swiss champions (2000, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005). The Heuscher / Kobel duo was named Swiss Team of the Year in 2004.

At the end of 2006, Kobel announced his resignation. His partner Patrick Heuscher found a new partner in Sascha Heyer .
