Stefan "Steff" Reisch (born November 29, 1941 in Németkér , Kingdom of Hungary ) is a former player of 1. FC Nürnberg who helped win the German championship in 1961 and the 1962 DFB Cup for the "Club".

childhood

Like most Danube Swabians , Stefan Reisch's parents left their home in Hungary after the end of the Second World War. They moved to Ansbach in Central Franconia . Reisch's first club stations were TSV Herrieden and TSV Altenfurt , before he joined 1. FC Nürnberg in 1955. Before the young talent under coach Herbert Widmayer was installed directly from the youth in the senior division in the Oberliga Süd in 1960, Stefan Reisch already had the colors of the German selection at the 1960 UEFA youth tournament together with his comrade from the A-youth, Kurt Haseneder represented.

Club career

In his first round in the league eleven in 1960/61, the 19-year-old was able to celebrate winning the German championship, followed by winning the DFB Cup in 1962 .

He came to 1. FC Nürnberg in the Oberliga Süd from 1960 to 1963 to 81 games and scored eight goals. In 1967, under coach Max Merkel, he ended his playing in Nuremberg after 86 games and nine goals in the Bundesliga . In Nuremberg, the left runner was known for his artistic ball handling and imaginative deception maneuvers and was often applauded on the open scene. Because of his quiff he was called the "James Dean" of 1. FCN and was one of the most adored players of his generation.

He moved to Switzerland to Neuchâtel Xamax , after one season he went to Belgium for two years at FC Bruges , where he was honored with cup winners, and finally played from 1970 to 1972 at FC Basel under coach Helmut Benthaus , where he won the Swiss championship 1972 ended his professional career. During his time in Basel he had 40 appearances and scored six goals, 21 games (2 goals) in league and cup, 13 appearances (1 goal) in the European Cup and in the Alpine Cup and the rest in friendly matches.

After his professional career, the trained furniture salesman built up a modern stationery shop in Nuremberg and chased the leather for years as a player trainer at the Würzburger Kickers , ASV Neumarkt , SSV Jahn Regensburg and SpVgg Büchenbach . Later he looked after several amateur clubs in the Franconian province and played with the “old men” of the PUMA “ejection seat”.

National team

The DFB had also used it in the junior national team in 1961, but then delayed its incorporation into the senior national team until after the 1962 World Cup in Chile. On September 30, 1962 in the 3-2 win in Zagreb against Yugoslavia - his club mate Heinz Strehl scored all three goals - he then celebrated his debut in the national team under national coach Sepp Herberger in the first international match after the World Cup .
