Stefan Tebruck

Stefan Tebruck (born December 10, 1964 ) is a German historian and professor of medieval history at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen .

Stefan Tebruck studied in Cologne , Bonn and Tübingen . The first state examination took place in Cologne in 1993. From 1993 to 2007 he was a research assistant and assistant to Matthias Werner at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . In 1997 he received his doctorate from Werner with a thesis on Reinhardsbrunn historiography in the High Middle Ages. From October 2002 to January 2003 a research stay at the German Historical Institute in Rome followed . His habilitation took place in Jena in 2007/08. In the summer semester of 2007 and in the winter semester of 2007/08, Tebruck was a substitute professor for medieval and regional history at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena. From September 2007 to September 2009 he worked as a research assistant in the research and edition project “Codex diplomaticus Saxoniae” at the Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig . Since October 2009 Tebruck has been teaching as professor for medieval history at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen .

Tebruck's research focuses on the crusade and society, historiography, memory and tradition formation, Christianization and the church in the early and high Middle Ages, veneration of saints and relics, aristocratic rule and culture as well as auxiliary historical sciences ( diplomacy , sphragistics ).

Tebruck has been a member of the Historical Commission for Hesse since 2010 .
