Stefon Mar'sean Diggs (* 29. November 1993 in Alexandria , Virginia ) is an American American football player at the position of wide receiver . He played college football for the University of Maryland, College Park . He currently works for the Buffalo Bills in the National Football League (NFL). From 2015 to 2019 he played for the Minnesota Vikings .

Early years

Diggs grew up in Gaithersburg in the US state of Maryland and attended high school in Olney .

His mother's name is Stephanie Diggs and he also has a brother named Trevon Diggs , who was drafted as a cornerback in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys .

college

Diggs attended the University of Maryland, College Park from 2012 to 2014 and played for the Maryland Terrapins .

In total, he caught 150 balls for 2,227 yards in these three years and managed 14 touchdowns . At college he was also employed as a return specialist and came up with 1,472 yards and 2 touchdowns as a kick returner and 220 yards as a punt returner .

NFL

In the 2015 NFL Draft , Diggs was selected in the 5th round in 146th place overall by the Minnesota Vikings .

In 2015, Diggs was able to establish himself as an important wide receiver for the Vikings in his rookie year and showed a good cooperation with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater .

After his serious injury and the Vikings' quarterback move to Sam Bradford before the 2016 season , he was able to maintain his position as a starting player and caught almost twice as many balls as in his first NFL year. On November 13, 2016, he made history in the game against the Washington Redskins by becoming the first NFL player to catch 13 or more balls in two consecutive games.

In the 2017 season Diggs scored eight touchdowns, in the play-offs Diggs also scored the decisive touchdown at the Minneapolis Miracle against the New Orleans Saints . In summer 2018 he extended his contract with the Vikings for five years.

After a poor start for the Vikings in the 2019 season , Diggs was absent from training and team meetings, which is why he was fined by the team. As a result, there was speculation about a possible trade from Diggs to another team. Since Adam Thielen , next to Diggs strongest receiver in Minnesota, missed most of the season from week 7 due to injury, Diggs played an even more important role in the Vikings offense. In week 15, it surpassed the 1000-yard mark for the second time since 2018.

On March 16, 2020, the Vikings Diggs gave up together with a seven-round pick in exchange for several draft rights from the Buffalo Bills . The Vikings received the first round pick as well as the fifth and six round picks of the Bills 2020 and the fourth round pick 2021.
