The Steingruberhaus (former technical school ) is a two-storey building with a steep hipped roof and plaster structure from the years 1742/43 in Schulstrasse 8 in the town of Merkendorf in the Franconian Lake District , Middle Franconia .
construction
The building was built according to plans by the Ansbach court builder Johann David Steingruber , from whom the name of the house is derived. It was not originally built as a rectory , as was assumed for a long time , but as an office building. In 1798 the house was bought by a private citizen; In 1877 the city of Merkendorf bought it back for school purposes .
Renovation and renovation
After the Steingruberhaus had been empty for years, a club house was planned in 2009 . Rooms were created for city meetings, for the Rezat-Mönchswald music school from Windsbach and for local clubs. The renovation was subsidized with an amount of 150,000 euros from the economic stimulus package II . Work started in 2010 and was completed in 2011.
The Steingruberhaus with town garden , town courtyard and town house (former secondary school with handicapped-accessible apartments) was inaugurated on the 11th Bavarian Days of Village Culture from July 15 to 17, 2011.
In 2013, the Steingruberhaus was awarded the Medal of the Middle Franconia District for its successful renovation.
