Steinwolke was a folk rock band that came from Rottweil and whose first LP was released in 1978.

Band history

The band was founded by three members of the Haas family: Clemens Maria (* 1960), Konrad and Andreas, plus the Uganda- born Indian and adopted son of the Haas family Dominic Dias and Uli Schmid (* 1952) from Leonberg .

In the first few years, the band won their rather alternative audience with idiosyncratic, world-music- oriented pieces rooted in folk rock and with numerous live performances. During this time, three long-playing records (LP) were made exclusively in-house.

In 1983 the band released the first purely German-language LP with the hit Katharine , as the result of a longer phase with more and more German-language and pop music among the songs . The song was assigned to the Neue Deutsche Welle , which, however, had already passed its zenith by this time. The song has - to this day - developed into an evergreen and cult party song and still appears in German original language on radio hit lists worldwide (Japan / Africa and the Middle East).

Another LP was released with the title In wilder Zeit (1985); then Clemens and Andreas Haas left the band.

For this purpose, the bass player and today's music producer Jens Bernewitz came along. This was followed by the albums Please Don't Knicken (1988), In 80 Days (1994) and several singles.

Konrad Haas, Dominic Dias and Jens Bernewitz were members of the Mini Pigs together with the actor Christian Kahrmann .

In 2004 Konrad Haas released the solo album Sometimes Heaven and several singles under the name Konrad Haas' Steinwolke on the German Austrophon . These were produced by Jens Bernewitz in the Noah studios in Hanover. Konrad Haas also forms the duo Die Hausmeister with actor Bernd Tauber . You have specialized in targeting German customs in a satirical way. In addition, Konrad Haas continues to work as a music producer.

Guitarist and singer Clemens Haas has since started a solo career under the name Cle and has given many concerts in Germany, including with Nena , Yvonne Catterfeld , Marius Müller-Westernhagen , Ulrich Tukur and the big band orchestra The Hoagies. The hit Katharine composed by him has been covered by numerous musicians. Together with the director Claudia Mielke , Clemens Haas founded the symphony orchestra Das Orchester under the umbrella term Neue Deutsche Klassik , in order to continue the tradition of German symphonic composers apart from state funding for culture. The choir Die 9 is integrated into the orchestra and consists of six tenors, two baritones and a bass. Clemens Maria Haas conducts the orchestra, composes and writes, partly together with Claudia Mielke, and also sings solo pieces, plays acoustic guitar and mandolin.

The American actor Lukas Haas is a nephew of the Haas brothers .

Bassist Jens Bernewitz and drummer Dominic Dias founded the band Los Tumpolos together with singer Michael Westphal in 1992 , which played hundreds of concerts and was the only German band to be invited to the prestigious Reggae Sunsplash Festival in Jamaica . Los Tumpolos have released four CDs and various singles so far.

Keyboarder Uli Schmid works as a pianist, composer, arranger and initiator of cabaret, music cabaret and theater programs and has worked at various theater stages a. a. in Bamberg, Hanover, Hildesheim, or at the Gandersheim Cathedral Festival . Guest appearances have also taken him to many German variety shows and to the Brooklyn Academy of Music , NY. Not least, in recent years he has made a name for himself as an arranger for instrumental and vocal works (including for the NDR ).
